The client was retyping the same job three times. Intake on paper, quote in a spreadsheet, invoice in email. The build reads the handwriting, generates the contract, and puts the revenue on one screen. Nobody retypes anything.

Before the first call
What does forward-deployed mean in practice?
I sit inside the customer's environment before the spec exists. I watch the work get done, find where the same data gets typed twice, and write the requirements myself. The build starts after that, not before.
How much of this is AI-assisted?
Most of the typing. None of the judgment. Claude Code closes the distance between knowing what to build and having it running. Deciding what to build and what to leave out is still the job.
What happens when the requirements are wrong?
They usually are, at least in part. That is the reason I go in first. When a requirement turns out to describe the workaround rather than the problem, I say so, show what I saw, and rescope in the same week.
